ProjectSub on iNaturalist

Share photos of the seabed, learn what species you observe and generate valuable data for science.

This platform allows us to share photos of the seabed and learn what species we are observing. In addition, we generate valuable data that contributes to scientific research in Argentina. Every time you dive and take photographs of marine organisms, you are making an observation that you can later share by adding the dive location.

Enter

Download the iNaturalist App or go to inaturalist.org from your computer, or in Spanish to argentinat.org. Create your user.

Select the photos

I chose the photos of your dives where marine organisms are clearly seen. It is important that only one species is seen in each image.

Identify

Add the dive site and the name of the species. If you're not sure which one it is, don't enter anything: other naturalists can help you with identification.

I shared

I uploaded your observation to share it with naturalists around the world and collaborate with science.

Projects on iNaturalist

At ProyectoSub we coordinate projects within iNaturalist that bring together underwater observations of invertebrates, fish and algae in different areas of the coast. Each area has a coordinator who curates the observations.

Guide to species of the Golfo Nuevo

We also developed a Guide to Species of the Golfo Nuevo (Argentine Patagonia), with information and images to help you identify marine species. You can download it to your cell phone from the iNaturalist app and use it offline during your trips to the sea.
